What Was Held considers memory as something physical rather than fixed. The original image has been divided, folded and displaced, yet fragments continue to hold together. What remains is not the memory itself, but its structure — traces held in material after certainty has disappeared.

After the Whole begins where the complete image ends. Photographic fragments are separated and reconstructed across multiple surfaces, leaving gaps, repetitions and interrupted forms. The work asks whether something must remain intact to remain present — or whether absence itself can become a form of memory.

A grid of small prints of the same horizon, each row a step further from the first. The image does not disappear all at once — it thins by degrees, from pale sepia through brown to black, and back again. What fades is the record; what stays is the rhythm of fading itself.
